Bohol Bee Farm
Location: Panglao Island, Bohol
Finally, I got myself posting a travel blog, hooray! This is a three-part series so do come back for the next two.
Shouse has always been about Interior Design, Food and Travel. I’ve got the food and design covered for a while now but not the Travel part yet. I’ve been to a handful of places before but I haven’t got a decent picture to show because I was always swamped by kids. Now that they’re on a vacation of their own, I’m free to take that elusive, perfect snap.
Around the first week of May, we traveled to Bohol together with my in-laws. Because we’re crazy and we hate crowds, we timed it when the travel ban to Bohol was up (or is still up?).
We’ve been to Bohol a couple of times already 'coz we so love the easy and laid back, resort-style over there. We always bring the car with us because, in my opinion, it is the perfect way to experience the island. We keep coming back ‘coz in some ways their way of life has not been muddled yet by modern conveniences and commercialism. Their markets are still full of handmade baskets and crafts, the popular supermarket sells thought-to-be-extinct cocobar and the farm to table setup is very much in practice.
We always make Panglao Island our base since we spend most of our time there, then drive out to other tourist attractions outside Panglao during the day. If your thing is the "beachy" night life then Alona beach is for you. For us, the draw is in the tranquil and soothing ambience with the best of views offered by the resort hotels that dotted the island.
Another ritual is going to The Bee Farm for their Filipino-flavored ice cream, organic menu, quaint setting and superb ocean view.
Their ice cream comes in malunggay, guyabano, durian, spicy ginger, peanut kisses and other Filipino flavors. I admit, i chose the dragon fruit to match my dress and the flowers, haha. They also use cassava cones in lieu of the wafer ones so it has an extra crunch.
Their salads are topped with edible flowers....sweet.
I especially love their lemongrass cooler- so refreshing. And that spread- cassava chips, bread and dips- ALL COMPLEMENTARY! Who in their right mind can say no to that?! Yey, for free food and staying healthy!
Warning: The rice they serve is unpolished organic red rice, so if it's not your thing, you better say so and specify your preference..
Our view while havin' lunch...
That's it guys. I hope you'll be inspired to travel more....go, just GO!
Credit goes to hubby (who continued to amaze me because he didn't complain) for the portrait pics :).
Coming soon are more on our Bohol trip...
'Til next...
xoxo
