BOOOOOOO!!!

Hi guys, it’s Halloween again! I know Halloween is not a Filipino tradition but who cares, it’s FUN! Yes, it’s a little pain in the butt at first, organizing a party and picking out costumes, but when it’s done, the fun part begins. Early on, around this time, I always find myself wanting to hide my head and cover my ears while the kiddos bugged me about costumes. I just mixed and matched clothes and trot them to the mall during trick or treats.

Eventually I developed a strategy (good thing they’ve outgrew the Pirates and Tinkerbelle stage). I found it easier to just go as a family. I had t-shirts printed for the 4 of us. It’s easier to find inspiration from the big screen. You can go out as the characters in the Inside-Out movie, The Incredibles or like from 2 years back, we went as Peppa Pig, George Pig, Mommy Pig and Daddy Pig. It’s up to you to add the necessary make-up or dress it up more… For this year’s Halloween, since it’s kinda special coz we’re going to an actual party, we wanted to be characters from the movie "Hotel Transylvania". Leela will go as Mavis, Noah as Dennis, hubby as Dracula and me as Zombie from the bellhop service. I made sugar cookies to match with our costumes. I’ve been looking in the internet for Hotel Trans-inspired cookies but there was next-to-nothing with regards to cookie design. So I just made my own design. My strong point is not in painting people faces (almost impossible to pull off using Royal icing). So I just played it around and came up with the idea of painting the characteristics that defined each character. It’s striped-stockings for Mavis, curly-hair for Dennis and the cape for Dracula. Blobby, Murray and Frankenstein were drawn by my li’l girl Leela. I think she did a nice job with it, don't you? I couldn’t have done all of this without her coz she supplied all the details and information behind each character. Oh, we used edible ink in drawing this cookies btw, (in case you were wondering).
